Sanju Samson, the Rajasthan Royals’ captain, will play his 100th IPL match for the Royals against Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals in the 34th match of the IPL on April 22.
Sanju used to play with Delhi Capitals, but he was later purchased by Rajasthan and has been with them ever since. He’s been a part of that team for the past eight seasons.
Sanju has scored over 2500 runs in 99 IPL games over eight seasons and has become one of the Royals’ most reliable foundations. With the kind of starts he’s been having this season, he’ll be trying to make the milestone, both as a batter and as the Royals’ skipper, a spectacular one.
Sanju is captaining the Royals for the second time in the IPL.
When he was barely 18 years old, the Kerala youngster burst into the spotlight. His batting talent was demonstrated with a double century in the Ranji Trophy, elevating him into the Rajasthan Royals’ hopes for the 2013 season.
In his first IPL season, a brilliant 63 off 41 balls against the legendary Royal Challengers Bangalore solidified his status as one of the greatest talents, and by the conclusion of the season, he had amassed 206 runs in 11 matches to win the renowned “Best Young Player of the Season, IPL 2013” award.
