Pat Cummins smashed Daniel Sams for 35 runs in the sixteenth over to lead KKR to their 2nd consecutive win of the season. Cummins’s played an innings of 56 runs off just 14 balls, which involved six sixes and four boundaries. With this, Cummins scored the joint-fastest half-century in the history of the Indian Premier League; the other player to do so is KL Rahul. The over by Daniel Sams was the most expensive over of the season and cost MI their third loss in a row.
While chasing a target of 162, KKR lost three wickets within the first ten overs. In the end, Venkatesh Iyer played a sensible inning of 50* off 41 balls and provided full support to Cummins. For MI, Daniel Sams bowled a fantastic first spell, conceding only 15 runs in his first three overs before giving away 35 runs in his fourth over. This was KKR’s third win of the season, and on the contrary, it was Mumbai’s third loss.
The only positive MI had from this game was Suryakumar Yadav’s classic return and Tilak Varma displaying his talent again with a knock of 37* runs.
