MS Dhoni was seen setting a particular field for Kieron Pollard, who, as expected, smashed it straight to the fielder in the next ball and returned to the pavilion, much like Pollard did when he faced the same fielding and was dismissed.
Following Pollard’s dismissal, Chennai Super Kings tweeted “2010 returns” on their official Twitter page.
Pollard was knocked for 14 runs from 9 balls by Maheesh Theekshana’s delivery, which was grabbed by Shivam Dube.
CSK won its maiden IPL title in 2010 when the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings met at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
In chase of 168, three run-outs and three remarkable catches caused the ground to shift beneath the home team’s feet, and they stumbled to 146 for nine in 20 overs.
Kieron Pollard’s dismissal — caught by Matthew Hayden with 26 runs to go — set the tone for the inevitable collapse, with three run-outs in a row culminating in misery for captain Sachin Tendulkar, who had a bandaged hand before he took the field.
