TATA IPL 2022: Lucknow Super Giants sets a target of 170 runs for Sunrisers Hyderabad

The Lucknow Super Giants are aiming for a spectacular finish after KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda got their innings going against the SunRisers Hyderabad. Hooda departed after hitting 51 runs and KL Rahul left with 68 runs from 50 balls.

After early knocks to the Lucknow Super Giants innings, skipper KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda combined 87 runs for the fourth wicket to set a target of 170 runs.

LSG captain KL Rahul completed his fifty in 40 balls. The right-hander played a brilliant innings while his side was in difficulty as he watched his team lose all four wickets at the other end. It was his 50th half century in T20s. After Deepak Hooda’s departure, Ayush Badoni,  joined him.

Deepak Hooda was dismissed after scoring a half-century in just 31 balls. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Romario Shepherd broke the tie after they were keen to break the partnership.

Quinton de Kock and Evin Lewis were dismissed by Washington Sundar, while Manish Pandey was dismissed by Romario Shepherd, reducing Lucknow to 27/3 in the powerplay. The Lucknow innings was then steadied by Rahul and Deepak Hooda’s crucial partnership.

Kane Williamson, the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, won the toss and chose to bowl against the Lucknow Supergiants in an IPL match here on Monday. While SRH’s lineup remains unaltered, Lucknow has added Jason Holder to the lineup in replacement of Dushmantha Chameera.

LSG got off to a shaky start in their first season, losing by five wickets to Gujarat Titans, who were also making their IPL debut. In their second encounter, they fought back by defeating reigning champions Chennai Super Kings by six wickets in a high-scoring contest.
