TATA IPL 2022: Jos Buttler breaks the record of most runs hit by RR batter in the tournament

After hitting his third half-century against MI on Saturday, Jos Buttler made a gesture of pulling his jersey collar in tribute to Shane Warne.

Jos Buttler breaks the record to become the leading batsman to have score most runs in a single Indian Premier League season for Rajasthan Royals.

Buttler also leads the ongoing season’s orange cap standings with 566 runs for the Royals, with an average of 70.75 and 155.06 strike rate.

In the 44th match of IPL 2022 against Mumbai Indians, Jos Buttler faced Hrithik Shokeen and blasted the spinner for four consecutive sixes on his way to another fifty before being removed for 67 runs.

After MI took the wickets of Devdutt Padikkal and skipper Sanju Samson in quick succession, Buttler remained crucial to RR’s chances of scoring a high total. Jos was joined in the middle by Daryl Mitchell, who shortly left while attempting to take on Daniel Sams for 17 runs.

As Rajasthan Royals were startled early by Mumbai Indians, Padikkal fell to Hrithik Shokeen, while Samson was eliminated by Kartikeya. Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal, who batted first against MI, got off to a cautious start.
