TATA IPL 2022: Here’s how CSK can still qualify for playoffs

CSK has 6 points after 10 games, and they may reach 14 points if they win their remaining four games.

Who would ever have imagined that one of the IPL’s most successful and reigning champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) would be wallowing at the penultimate bottom of the table.

After reclaiming the leadership and defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad, it appeared like MS Dhoni may once again unleash his magic and lead the Super Kings to the playoffs.

CSK is still in the playoff race – but only by a hair’s breadth, and will require a miracle for other squads’ results to go their way. CSK has 6 points after 10 games, and they may reach 14 points if they win their remaining four games.

CSK’s loss against RCB in their most recent match might be devastating to their prospects of entering the playoffs this season. While the four-time winners are all so out of the tournament, there is yet a ray of hope for them. CSK will need to win all four of its remaining matches to get 14 points this season.

CSK has a low net run rate; they’ll need to win all four of their matches by large margins and hope for a miracle for the rest of the results to go their way to finish fourth. In summary, Mumbai is the first franchise to be eliminated this season, and Chennai is just a matter of time until they follow suit.
