Rahul Tewatia played an amazing inning, in the end, to help Gujarat attain their first victory in the IPL campaign. Tewatia scored 40 runs off 24 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes. Abhinav Manohar played a much-needed cameo of 15 runs off 7 balls to provide Tewatia support.
At the start of the second innings, Dushmantha Chameera bowled an impressive spell of 13/2 in the powerplay to trouble Gujarat Titans at the start of the innings. However, Hardik Pandya (33) and Mathew Wade (30) bought Gujarat back in the game by building a fifty partnership. Pandya was looking in great touch before throwing away his wicket to Krunal Pandya. Similarly in the very next over Wade tried to accelerate and lost his wicket to Deepak Hooda. Lucknow seemed to come back in the game, with Miller and Rahul Tewatia struggling to score in the middle overs. Gujrat required 68 runs off the last 5 overs, when both the pinch-hitters decided to accelerate and scored 22 runs off the 16th over. Deepak Hooda was smashed all around the ground by Tewatia and Miller to bring Gujarat back into the game.
Again, when Gujarat seemed in the driver’s seat, they lost the important wicket of Miller, making this match a roller-coaster ride. The next man Abhinav Manohar played a brilliant cameo of 15 off 7, providing supreme support to Tewatia to help Gujrat get their first victory in TATA IPL 2022.
