Chennai Super Kings entered the IPL Auction 2022 on 12th and 13th February with a purse of INR 48 crore. Before the mega auctions, every franchise was allowed to retain a maximum of 4 players. Chennai retained their all-time great all-rounder Ravinder Jadeja for INR 16 crore, Cricketing legend MS Dhoni for INR 12 crore, Moeen Ali for INR 8 crore, and Ruturaj Gaikwad for INR 6 crore.
Deepak Chahar returned to CSK for a whopping INR 14 crore in the Mega auction after a massive bidding war between multiple franchises. With this, Deepak Chahar also became the most expensive Indian bowler in the history of IPL. Post Deepak’s retention in the squad, Aakash Chopra, while speaking on Hotstar, said that the Hard work of this exceptional all-rounder had finally paid off.
During the auction, other top buys of CSK were Ambati Rayudu, Dwayne Bravo, and Robin Uthappa. The team also retained them after a thrilling bidding contest against multiple franchises.
