TATA IPL 2022: Fans celebrate Andre Russell’s explosive batting

Two of the most interesting teams in the IPL exchanged punches after punches at one other, but Punjab Kings’ toss deficit was too much for Kolkata Knight Riders. In an attempt to compensate for the expected dew and chasing advantage, PBKS played the same game as KKR two nights ago: keep going hard and refusing to rebuild until it was the only choice left.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) thrashed Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six wickets in match 8 of the current IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Andre Russell brought the match to a conclusion with back to back sixes. Russel struck a counter-attack 70 off 31 balls with eight spectacular sixes. KKR pulled down a 138-run chase with 33 balls to go.  The chase was taken over by Andre Russell and Sam Billings.

Kolkata Knight Riders recovered from a middle-over hiccup to clinch the 138-run chase in only 14.3 overs. With a six-wicket victory at the Wankhede Stadium, Kolkata was able to get back on track. With his double whammy, Rahul Chahar threatened to steal the game away before posting an outstanding bowling statistic, but Punjab appeared to be out of ideas when it came to stopping Russell.

Despite being 51 for 4, they were bowled out for 137 with 10 balls to spare, a score KKR knocked down in 14.3 overs. KKR has always gone for the aggressive option, starting with their team selection.
