TATA IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals’ Mitchell Marsh tests positive for Covid-19

The Delhi Capitals have cancelled today’s scheduled flight to Pune ahead of their second IPL 2022 game due to a Covid outbreak concern.

Mitchell Marsh of the Delhi Capitals has tested positive for Covid-19 and will have to isolate for at least a week, according to IPL norms. Marsh is the fifth member of the Capitals squad to test positive, after physio Patrick Farhart and a member of the support crew.

Marsh tested positive after quick testing following the Capitals’ match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday, raising doubts about the tournament’s possibility. Marsh battled to bat with consistency, and the Capitals lost by 16 runs.

Marsh is said to have undergone two rounds of RT-PCR testing after that. The first resulted in a negative, but the second resulted in a positive.

On Monday, all of the Capitals’ players were taken to a fresh round of RT-PCR tests. The IPL will next decide if the Capitals can go to Pune on April 20 to play the Punjab Kings.
