Rovman Powell had struck Rajasthan Royals’ Obed McCoy for three sixes in a succession on the first three deliveries with Delhi Capitals needing 36 runs from the final over. The third delivery of the over was a no-ball over the waistline, but the on-field umpires ruled it fair. The severity of the situation led to the Delhi side protesting the scenario, with Pant looking ecstatic on the stands.

Pant gestured for Powell and his partner, Kuldeep Yadav, to leave the field. He then sent out assistant coach Pravi Amre onto the field to speak with the umpires. Shane Watson, the franchise’s assistant coach, admonished the DC captain, coach Amre, and a few other players for their actions.
