TATA IPL 2022: “Cancel IPL” trends on Twitter amidst COVID scare in Delhi Capitals camp

The Indian Premier League has been shaken by a COVID-19 threat, with five members of the Delhi Capitals’ camp testing positive.

‘Cancel IPL’ is trending on Twitter after five members of the Delhi Capitals squad, including all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, physio Patrick Farhart, and a support staff member, tested positive for Covid-19.

CSK and MI appears to be the subject of the majority of the tweets. While some tweets depict Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants, who are topping the points table, protesting the idea of cancelling the IPL, others depict Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, who seems to have a poor start to the season, as embracing the concept.

Marsh is admitted to the hospital after a positive COVID-19 RT-PCR test.

DC had cancelled their flight to Pune, where they were due to play their next two games, earlier in the day.

This news will be a huge cause of worry for the IPL organising committee, given that the tournament is played in bio-bubbles. With the pandemic spreading across DC’s camp, their next matches against Punjab Kings (PBK) and Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday and Friday, respectively, are in trouble.
