TATA IPL 2022: Anuj Rawat’s poor show continues; possible replacements for the opener

RCB’s youngster Anuj Rawat has just scored 129 runs in 9 matches with a strike rate of 110.26. The left-handed batter has not been able to provide the speedy start required for the team.

The uncapped wicket-keeper batter, Anuj Rawat, was picked for INR 3.4 crore by RCB in the IPL 2022 Mega-Auction. The left-handed batter has an impressive record in first-class cricket with 925 runs in 19 matches, including two centuries and three half-centuries. However, the 22-year-old hasn’t been able to display the same form in the most prominent T20 league.  Anuj has played nine matches for RCB and has scored only 129 runs, with an average of 16.13 and a strike rate of 110.26. The batter scored a brilliant 66* for the side but isn’t able to deliver consistently.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are now at a crucial stage of the league. And having an opener who can consistently provide the team a quick start is of utmost importance. With that being said, Rajat Patidar and Mahipal Lomror can be a replacement for Anuj.

Rajat Patidar doesn’t have an impressive batting record in IPL but is coming from a fantastic domestic season. It can be an excellent replacement for Anuj. On the other hand, Mahipal Lomror had a decent IPL 2021 season for Rajasthan Royals and provided the team with his all-rounder ability. Mahipal also played an inning of 43 runs in just 17 balls in the previous season. He seems like an excellent replacement for Anuj too.
