SRH vs MI IPL 2023: Here’s what Arjun Tendulkar had to say after bagging in his maiden IPL wicket

Mumbai Indians’ campaign in the ongoing season of IPL 2023 got off to a rocky start with back-to-back defeats, but the team has since found its winning momentum with three consecutive victories. In their latest match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the five-time champions emerged victorious by 14 runs, thanks in part to the impressive performance of Australian all-rounder Cameron Green.

Arjun made his debut for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 and has been retained by the franchise for IPL 2023. For the second time in a row, he was given the opportunity to showcase his talent in the IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday night.

SRH needed 20 runs off the last over to secure a win but Arjun Tendulkar had other plans. The first ball of the over was bowled outside off which resulted in a dot ball.

The next ball was another wide outside off which Abdul Samad tried to hit for a late cut towards deep, but decided to take a second run which was a poor decision as he was run out.

Arjun Tendulkar bowled exceptionally well in the last over and took his maiden wicket of his IPL career when he dismissed Bhuvneshwar Kumar, caught by Rohit Sharma at cover. This was MI’s third win in a row.

As soon as Rohit took the catch, he pointed towards Arjun and ran towards him in celebration. This showed that Rohit had faith in the young pacer.

Overall, it was a great performance by Arjun Tendulkar under pressure in his first real test. He helped Mumbai Indians secure a comfortable win by 14 runs. With this performance, Arjun Tendulkar has shown that he has the potential to be a great player in the future and has made his father and the entire MI team proud.

Here’s what Arjun said post match –

Obviously it was great getting my first IPL wicket. I just had to focus on what was in hand, the plan and executing it. Our plan was just to bowl wide and get the long boundary into play, make the batsman hit it to the longer side. I love bowling, I am happy to bowl anytime the captain asks me to and just stick to the team plan and give my best. We (Sachin Tendulkar and him) talk about cricket, we discuss tactics before the game and he tells me to back what I practise every game. I just focused on my release, bowling good lengths and lines upfront. If it swings, it’s a bonus, if it doesn’t, so be it.
