In the IPL 2013 season on May 16, 3 Rajasthan Royal players were arrested by the Delhi Police in a case of Spot Fixing, The three players were Sreeshanth, Ankit Chavan and Ajit Chandila, all three players were suspended by the BCCI until the Police enquiry was completed, In addition the top official of Chennai Super Kings Franchise Gurunath Meiyappan and son in law of the BCCI President N,Srinivasan was arrested by the Mumbai crime branch in connection with illegal betting.

On June 5, 2013 the Rajasthan Royals team co-owner was questioned by the Delhi Police for a suspicious involvement in the illegal betting which had shadowed the IPL in 2013. Delhi Police claimed that he confessed to having placed bets on his team with help of his friend who was a bookie, soon after the Rajasthan Royals management said that Raj kundra would be suspended of all his shares in the team if the charges against him of betting were proved, Because of this he was suspended from IPL by the BCCI on 10th June 2013.
