Sanju Samson speaks on importance of mega auction

Indian cricketer, Sanju Samson feels that the upcoming mega auction on February 12 and 13 is extremely important as it would help the team, Rajasthan Royals to set up a base for the next 5-6 years by choosing the appropriate players.

Rajasthan Royals, who won the first season of IPL, would be having Rs 62 cr in their purse in the mega auction. The Rajasthan franchise has retained captain, Sanju Samson (14 Crore), English wicketkeeper, Jos Buttler (10 Crore), and young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (7 Crore).

As per TOI news, Samson in a media release said, “This auction is really important because we know we could very well be preparing our base for the next 5-6 years.”

The team has made sure to track everyone and allow as many players as possible during the trails. Its goal is to now aim at the ones they believe can match their vision, embrace values and help the team get back to the top.

The Rajasthan Royal’s Director of Cricket, Kumar Sangakkara and feels that the franchise in terms of their recruitment could once again come to the fore, and provide the team with further clarity as they build for potential with a view to the long-term.

Sangakkara said that the team’s analytical assessments are detailed, right from the information they have collected on players, getting them integrated into a central database.

The team further filter the data, backed with a robust analytic process that allows it to arrive at the right metrics further refining the overall player identification process.
