Rajasthan Royals’ 14-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered a remarkable performance on his IPL debut against Lucknow Super Giants, scoring 34 off just 20 balls before being stumped by Rishabh Pant. The youngster, who created history by becoming the youngest player to debut in IPL at 14 years and 23 days, broke down emotionally after his dismissal — a moment that touched fans and commentators alike.

Walking in with confidence, Suryavanshi stunned everyone by smashing a six off his very first delivery in IPL — a cracking loft over cover off Shardul Thakur. His fearless batting and clean striking left even seasoned broadcasters in awe, with commentator Aakash Chopra calling it “a proper Gen Z shot”.

Suryavanshi’s 34-run knock was filled with moments of fortune. A leading edge off Avesh Khan landed safely between converging fielders, followed by a dropped catch at mid-wicket that trickled away for four. Later, a mistimed pull off Shardul Thakur dropped just short of square leg.

His dismissal came in the 9th over when Aiden Markram’s slower delivery deceived him in flight. Attempting to work it to the leg side, he stepped out and was stumped smartly by Pant. As the big screen flashed ‘OUT’, the teenager couldn’t hold back tears — a raw reminder of how much the moment meant to him.

Despite the dismissal, the young left-hander made a lasting impression with three sixes and two boundaries, striking at 170+. With immense talent and composure under pressure, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s emotional debut has already carved a place for him in IPL history.
