Rohit Sharma by winning five IPL titles for his side has become one of the greatest captain and is among some of the few best leaders in the cricket world. Due to his leadership abilities, some says of him having captaincy power like MS Dhoni while some says he possesses the captaincy traits of Sourav Ganguly. However former Indian bowler Irfan Pathan believes that Rohit Sharma is a mixture of both MS Dhoni as well as of Sourav Ganguly.
Rohit Sharma accomplished a captaincy masterclass by including Jayant Yadav in the playing XI, in the IPL 2020. Rohit Sharma preliminary exterminated Shikhar Dhawan which helped Mumbai Indians (MI) to step up in the front.
“The way he used Yadav showed hi class. Any captain would have gone with a seamer. Rohit used his instinct. It showed how clear was his thinking. It showed that he is a bowlers’ captain” said Irfan Pathan to the Indian Express.
“He is a mixture of Dhoni and Ganguly. Ganguly trusted his bowlers and went by it. Dhoni trusted his bowlers but always took decisions with an instincts” Irfan Pathan added.
Irfan Pathan also recalled few moments from IPL 2020 where Rohit Sharma proved his captaincy.
“One of the games was getting closer, so he used Bumrah in the 17th over, though he usually use Bumrah in the 18th. Bumrah bought the game back in MI’s favour” he said.
“Look at the way he used Pollard, he didn’t make him bowl initially but when wicket had double pace he used Pollard” added Irfan Pathan.
Rohit Sharma is truly recognised as one of the successful captain in the IPL with five IPL titles to his name, followed by MS Dhoni.
