‘Right kind of beginning’: Shah Rukh Khan praises Ajinkya, Varun, Moeen, and team in heartfelt message after match against Rajasthan Royals

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) put on a clinical performance to defeat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 8 wickets in the 6th match of IPL 2025 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on March 26. Chasing a target of 152, KKR made it look easy, cruising to 153/2 in just 17.3 overs, with Quinton de Kock playing a match-winning knock to earn the Player of the Match award.

Earlier in the evening, KKR’s bowlers dominated, restricting RR to 151/9 in 20 overs. The win marks a strong early statement from the Knight Riders in their campaign this season.

Following the match, franchise co-owner Shah Rukh Khan sent a warm and emotional message to the team, expressing regret over not being able to attend the game and showering praise on the players and staff.

“So first of all, he is very unhappy that he wasn’t able to come here. He wanted to be here with all of us, with all of you,” a team member read aloud on SRK’s behalf.

“He says, please give Ajinkya all my love and bowlers a big hug — Varun, Moeen, Vaibhav, Spencer, Harshit — they were all so on the mark tonight. Big hug to Angkrish and Quinny. Congratulations to everyone, have a good, healthy trip.”

Shah Rukh also acknowledged the support staff: “Please also tell Champion and Chandu (sir) that now is the right kind of beginning. Very, very happy for their efforts and everyone else in the staff. He is super happy with the bottom line.”

With this victory and the encouragement from their iconic owner, KKR will look to carry forward the momentum into their upcoming matches.
