RCB’s Rajat Patidar set to undergo surgery in England; BCCI to bear expenses

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that Rajat Patidar and Shreyas Iyer will be undergoing surgeries in England. While Patidar will receive treatment for his left heel injury that has ruled him out of the entire IPL 2023, Iyer will undergo back surgery. The BCCI has announced that it will bear all the expenses for Patidar’s surgery, despite him not being a centrally contracted player.

Patidar has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and is currently at home in Indore, waiting for his visa papers to fly to the UK for the treatment. His franchise, RCB, issued a statement confirming his injury status and wished him a speedy recovery.

The BCCI has been proactive in providing medical assistance to players, and the decision to bear the expenses of Patidar’s surgery is a welcome one. The board has also been providing medical insurance cover to domestic cricketers, covering expenses for hospitalization and treatment of injuries sustained during domestic matches.
