RCB will don a blue jersey in their first match in the 2nd phase of the IPL against KKR

Kohli and his teammates will don a new blue jersey. This jersey will pay tribute to the essential workers for their selfless contribution in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are looking forward to the second phase of the Indian Premier League, which will start on the 19th of September in the UAE. The Virat Kohli led side has had a promising run, winning five of their seven league games which are very atypical of the team who are known for being underachievers. They are now sitting at the third spot in the points table.

They will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their first match in Abu Dhabi on the 20th of September. When they will begin their second phase of the 2021 campaign, Kohli and his teammates will don a new blue jersey. This jersey will pay tribute to the essential workers for their selfless contribution in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The franchise posted on Twitter today about the jersey. They confirmed that the team will wear this in their next match. The post said that the team is honoured to wear the blue jersey as it is the colour of the PPE kits of the frontline workers and as said above, pays tribute to their selfless work.

They were supposed to wear this jersey earlier in May but due to the suspension of the tournament, those plans were nixed. With the league starting again, they have decided to wear this kit in their next match.

They have worn green jerseys before for the franchise’s “Go Green” initiative which conveys the message of environmental conservation.

Captain Virat Kohli and bowler Mohammad Siraj arrived on Sunday and are undergoing a hard six-day quarantine, after which they will join the team’s bio bubble. Batsmen Ab De Villiers and Glenn Maxwell had also arrived in the UAE earlier this month to participate in the remainder of the season.
