Royal Challengers Bengaluru rewrote IPL playoff history on Tuesday after posting 254/5 against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 at Dharamsala, the highest total ever recorded in an IPL knockout or playoff match.

RCB’s total of 254/5 is now the fourth-highest score in the franchise’s IPL history and the highest ever in an IPL playoff game, surpassing Gujarat Titans’ 233/3 against Mumbai Indians in 2023.

Rajat Patidar produced one of the greatest playoff knocks in IPL history, remaining unbeaten on 93 off just 33 balls, smashing five fours and nine sixes at a strike rate of 281.82.

Patidar once again delivered in a knockout fixture, continuing his remarkable IPL playoff record.

Across six playoff innings, Patidar now has 338 runs at an average of 112.66 and a strike rate of 193.14, including one century and two fifties.

RCB’s innings was built on aggressive contributions throughout the batting order. Virat Kohli scored 43, Devdutt Padikkal added 30, while the late assault from Patidar and Jitesh Sharma completely dismantled Gujarat’s bowling attack.

The innings also featured 38 boundaries, the most ever recorded in an IPL playoff game.

Despite entering the match with one of the strongest bowling attacks in IPL 2026, Gujarat Titans struggled badly. Mohammed Siraj conceded 46 runs in three overs, while Prasidh Krishna gave away 53 in four overs.

Interestingly, GT became only the second IPL side after Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024 to have five bowlers with 15 or more wickets in a single season.
