RCB in IPL 2023: Top 5 bowlers in Royal Challengers Bangalore

On April 2, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will welcome the five-time champion Mumbai Indians in their opening game of the IPL 2023. Prior to being defeated by the Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 last year, RCB had advanced to the semifinals in the IPL 2022.

Among the many bowlers in their roster, RCB has access to players like Josh Hazlewood, David Willey, Shahbaz Ahmed, Michael Bracewell, Wanindu Hasaranga, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, Reece Topley, Karn Sharma, and former Purple Cap winner Harshal Patel.

While talking in Star Sports Network’s show, Sanjay Manjrekar said, “Their pace bowling has depth. Even if Hazlewood is not fit, then they have Topley. In spin, they have Wanindu Hasaranga. They have Mohammed Siraj, Harshal Patel. Their bowling is perfect and even Maxwell can bowl. In this IPL, according to me, the best bowling attack belongs to RCB and that is their combined x-factor.”

Harshal Patel, a right-arm medium pacer for Haryana, has gained legendary status among RCB fans. The 29-year-old has taken the second-most wickets in the annals of the team’s franchise. With an average of 21.64, a strike rate of 15.7, and an economy rate of 8.22, he has claimed 85 wickets in 66 games.

The tall English pacer Reece Topley signed for a pitiful 1.90 Crore, becoming the first deal of the auction for Men in Red. The left-arm pacer made a spectacular comeback to the limited overs format for England in 2022 and looks to be a great addition to the bowling lineup that already includes Josh Hazlewood and Mohammed Siraj.

Another outstanding performer in the RCB lineup is Wandindu Hasaranga, who amassed 26 wickets in 16 overs and completely confused the opposition batters.

In terms of spin bowlers, RCB has a wide range of options in the shape of Wanindu Hasaranga and Shahbaz Ahmed.

Josh Hazlewood, Mohammad Siraj, and Harshal Patel make up a fairly lethal-looking pace trio that is capable of producing stellar performances.

If Hazlewood is unable to play, Reece Topley will step in.

Mohammed Siraj, a pacer for Royal Challengers Bangalore, had a poor IPL 2022 season. Siraj played in 15 games last season but only managed to take 9 wickets.
