On April 2, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will welcome the five-time champion Mumbai Indians in their opening game of the IPL 2023. Prior to being defeated by the Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 last year, RCB had advanced to the semifinals in the IPL 2022.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore had to contend with injury problems to some of their key players even before the IPL 2023 season began. After England all-rounder Will Jacks was ruled out and substituted by Michael Bracewell, the Royal Challengers Bangalore are concerned about the health of pacer Josh Hazlewood and batsman Rajat Patidar.
Patidar, who scored the game-winning century against LSG in the Eliminator last year, is battling a heel ailment. He will be absent for at least the first half of the IPL 2023 while he is presently at the NCA.
According to reports (from the media source ESPNCricinfo), RCB may not have the services of Indian batsman Rajat Patidar and Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood for the first few games.
