RCB beats PBKS to become the third team to qualify for the playoffs this season

As their middle order collapsed, PBKS couldn’t manage to bounce back. With the two points accumulated from this match, Royal Challengers Bangalore were able to book their seat in the Playoffs of this season.

Royal Challengers have qualified for the playoffs with a win against Punjab Kings in the 48th match of VIVO IPL 2021. The boys from Bangalore had backed up their batting options after winning the toss, and the Captain leading from the front scored 55 runs in the powerplay with his opening partner Padikkal. However, PBKS came back into the game strongly, as Henriques picked up 3 wickets in quick succession to apply some speed breakers. Nobody could hold back Maxwell though, who was in great form. By the means of a great 50, he helped his side score a respectable total.

Punjab Kings after restricting the RCB unit for a score of 164, came strongly into the second innings with KL Rahul being their pick of the batsman and orange cap holder doing what he does best alongside Mayank Agarwal. Together they put up 91 runs for the first wickets, and it felt as if it would be an easy win for Punjab until Kohli decided to bring on his best bowler, Yuzvendra Chahal.

After the spinner’s exclusion from the World T20 squad, Chahal has decided to pick the best mode of expressing by letting his performance do the talk. Once again in a high-intensity match, where his team RCB seemed to be short on tricks to pick wickets, Yuzvendra Chahal once again steps up to the task. He took care of the explosive Pooran to start with, and then went on to take care of Mayank Agarwal who was already set, batting at 57. Chahal, then applied the deft touch by dismissing Sarfaraz Khan for a duck.

As their middle order collapsed, PBKS couldn’t manage to bounce back. They agonizingly lost the match by just 6 runs. With the two points accumulated from this match, Royal Challengers Bangalore were able to book their seat in the Playoffs of this season.
