The two teams were playing their first match after the resumption of the tournament on the 19th of September. The Royals posted a score of 185 in 20 overs but were all out due to a collapse which led to them losing their six wickets for just 19 runs. Punjab Kings were the favourites throughout the innings as their openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal provided an amazing start to their chase. They got dismissed but Punjab still ended up just needing 4 runs off the last over and with eight wickets remaining. Royals bowler Kartik Tyagi ended up taking 2 wickets and conceded only one run from the last over to lead his team to a ridiculous victory.

The next match will be between Sunrisers Hyderabad and table toppers Delhi Capitals at the Dubai International Stadium.
