Punjab Kings’ skipper KL Rahul has written his name in the top 5 batsman’s list to reach the 3000 runs mark in the fewest IPL innings. KL Rahul has achieved this feat in just 80 innings to become the second-fastest batsman to do so.
Here is a list of the new top batsmen that have reached 3000 runs in the Indian Premier League.
AB De Villiers – 104 innings
AB De Villiers is considered one of the most destructive batsmen in cricket. He earlier played for the Delhi Daredevils before his move to the Royal Challengers Bangalore. De Villiers took just 104 innings to cross the 3000 runs mark in the IPL to place himself at the fifth-fastest to do.
Suresh Raina – 103 innings
The CSK batsman has scored over 3000 runs in his IPL career and has achieved this in 103 innings with a strike rate of 140. Apart from his batting Raina is also known for his fielding and outstanding catches. The left-handed batsman has proven to be valuable in both batting and his work as an outfield player to help his side in every way possible.
David Warner – 94 innings
David Warner has previously won the Orange Cap in the 2015 IPL season where he scored 562 runs in a single season. He reached the 3000 run mark during his knock of 46 runs in 30 balls against his former team, Delhi Daredevils.
KL Rahul – 80 innings
The Punjabi Kings skipper is the latest entry into the list as he achieved this milestone during the second phase of the IPL 2021 season against the Rajasthan Royals. He is now the second-fastest player to do so. He is 5 innings off his teammate in the first place.
Chris Gayle – 75 innings
The West Indies international Chris Gayle sits on top of the list of the fastest batsmen to 3000 IPL runs. Gayle was a batting delight for the fans and a bowlers nightmare during his time in the RCB camp. He scored 608, 733 and 708 runs in 2011,2012 and 2013 respectively. Gayle holds the record for the most runs scored in a single IPL inning against the Pune Warriors scoring 175 runs in just 66 deliveries.
