In a significant development amid rising diplomatic tensions, Pakistan’s official IPL streaming partner Tapmad has stopped broadcasting Indian Premier League matches, a day after Indian broadcasters pulled out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025.
The move comes after major Indian platforms like Sony Sports Network, Fancode, and Cricbuzz suspended PSL coverage in India, following the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, on April 22, which left 26 civilians dead. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the incident as “an attack on the soul of India” and promised stern action.
While India responded swiftly by removing PSL from all major broadcast and streaming platforms, Pakistani viewers continued to access IPL matches via Tapmad. The platform even streamed updates and matches, including the much-anticipated CSK vs SRH clash scheduled for Friday.
However, facing mounting public pressure and calls for a retaliatory response, Tapmad stopped streaming IPL matches on Saturday, aligning with Pakistan’s broader stance amid escalating tensions with India.
Tapmad’s decision to halt IPL streaming marks a symbolic tit-for-tat move, as both countries continue to scale back cultural and sporting engagements in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack.
