Chennai Super Kings has been the most balanced side in this year’s IPL they said, and the team proved it yet again by in both the departments of the game exceptionally against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Final of VIVO IPL 2021.

It was the most anticipated final, as CSK were supposed to be the favourites but KKR their opponents had had the better of them in the last two finals the teams played together. Therefore, it was a very even-steven match, until CSK decided to bring up their A-game.

Losing the toss, they were made to bat first and CSK’s batters took this opportunity with both hands and posted a mammoth total of 192 runs in just 20 overs. Now the task of winning them the match was left to the bowlers and they did not disappoint them either. Although KKR had a great start with the bat too, and at one point it felt that they would run away with the game. But Lord Shardul Thakur was not going to let that happen at any cost. He bowled a very economic first over in the powerplay. Later he came back into the attack to picked up 2 crucial wickets in the same over, as he dismissed a dangerous-looking Iyer and then Nitish Rana in the same over.

Alongside him, Ravindra Jadeja too tied up one end and picked up 2 wickets of Shakib and Dinesh Kartik to turn the game in his team’s favour. Thakur then cleaned up Tripathi to swing the game in his team’s favour.
