Andre Russell proved to be the game-changer for Kolkata Knight Riders as he picked up two crucial wickets in the same over to put his team in control against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their IPL 2023 clash.
Russell first dismissed Mayank Agarwal on the first ball of his spell. Agarwal, who had been in good form in the tournament, backed away and tried to dab a short ball past third man, but the fielder in the circle took a fine catch to send him back to the pavilion for just 9 runs.
But Russell wasn’t done yet. In his same over, he struck again to send Rahul Tripathi packing. The ball was short, and Tripathi tried to pull it, but he only managed to get a top edge. The keeper, Gurbaz, ran forward and to his left to complete a fine catch.
The Jamaican all-rounder has been one of the most impactful players in the IPL over the years, and his performance in this game once again proved why he is such an important player for KKR.
