Team India’s left-arm wrist-spinner, Kuldeep Yadav has suffered a knee injury that can sideline him for the rest of the domestic season.

According to PTI, Kuldeep Yadav suffered a massive injury during a KKR practice session in UAE. He twisted his knee badly during a fielding session. Following this, he was sent back to India where he has undergone surgery in Mumbai. Knee injuries are nasty and require a long and enduring process of rehabilitation. Therefore it appears evident enough that the spinner will miss the entire domestic season. This can be a huge blow to the aspirations of the wrist spinner who was thriving hard to make a comeback in the Indian team. Recently Kuldeep had had a rough patch with the ball. This cost him his place in the Indian team. For the past two years, he has been in and out of the squad and has seldom played consecutive matches in a series.

In retrospect, one can identify IPL 2019 as the start of the decline in Kuldeep’s career. After that, not only his form, but the faith of the team management in his skills also took a slump and they favoured players like Shahbaz Nadeem who was originally in the standbys, to play in the squad ahead of Yadav. Due to his form, he was left out of the T-20 World cup Squad along with his bowling partner Yuzvendra Chahal. This must have severely damaged his morale and would have bolstered him to make some prolific performances in the domestic circuit to stand in contention of the position he previously acquired in the team. Insofar, the 26-year-old has played 7 tests, 65 Odis, and 23 T20Is, in which he has accumulated a total of 174 wickets.
