The former England international player Kevin Pietersen feels Punjab Kings didn’t treat Chris Gayle well which has led to him leaving the IPL 2021.

Kevin Pietersen on Star Sports said ” He is not being treated right in the environment and feels like they are using him and getting rid of him. They didn’t play him on his birthday, cast him aside. If he is not happy, he is 42, Let him do what he wants,”

After being left out of the squad in PBKS’s first match in UAE which was on his 42 Birthday against Rajasthan Royals the Windies batsman featured in only two games against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians scoring just 14 and 1 respectively. Pietersen feels the reason behind Gayle leaving has to do with the possibility of him not being treated well at the franchise since joining them back in 2018.

Gayle had scored 490 runs in 13 games for PBKS in the 2019 edition of the IPL. Shockingly he was been left out the first six matches of the last edition but returned in the seventh and scoring three half-centuries allowing PBKS to return back to winning ways. Former RCB’s batsman who has scored an enormous amount of runs as an opener is being made to bat at no. 3 in the PBKS squad with the pair of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal opening the side for PBKS

PBKS won their last match against KKR with 5 wickets while KL Rahul scoring 67 and young bowler Arshdeep Singh picking up 3 wickets. PBKS are currently in 5th position on the points table looking to clinch the last spot to the playoff of the IPL.
