Mumbai Indians defeated UP Warriorz by 72 runs to reach the finals of WPL 2023—all thanks to Issy Wong’s hat trick and Nat Sciver-Brunt’s blistering half-century. The Mumbai Indians successfully defended their 182/4 score against the UP Warriors.

While MI made a decent start, both openers – Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia – could not capitalise on their opportunities. But Nat Sciver Brunt scored a half-century in 26 balls. Her unbeaten 28-ball 72 helped Mumbai to reach 182/4. Harmanpreet Kaur was out for 14, Melanie Kerr contributed a 19-ball 29, and Pooja Vastrakar hit 11 in four balls.

In the second innings, Issy Wong’s four-for rattled the Warriors. The England pacer completed a hat-trick in the 13th over when he removed Kiran Navgire, who Nat Sciver-Brunt caught at deep midwicket. On the next ball, the right-arm pacer accounted for Simran Shaikh with a cross-seam delivery.

Kiran Navgire scored 43 runs in 27 balls for the UP Warriorz, but it was insufficient. Losing four early wickets meant they could not support Navgire at the other end. Harmanpreet Kaur is the first Indian captain to reach the WPL final.
