
In a post-match interview last evening, Ishan Kishan revealed some of Virat Kohli’s plans for the upcoming world cup. He mentioned a conversation he had with Virat Kohli earlier, after MI and SRH match on Friday on Star Sports Network, ” Virat bhai said – you are selected as an opener, you just have to prepare for that.” Adding to this the youngster said that cricket is very uncertain and in the bigger stage one has to be prepared for any situation.
This came after Kishan’s magnificent inning against SRH last evening. Kishan had a great night with the bat in hand, helped his team reach the score of 235 in just 20 over, by the means of a blistering inning he played at the start. Although Mumbai Indians needed to perform an impossible task if they were to qualify for the playoffs and they certainly started off well. The huge total of 235 however was not going to be enough. Despite that tota, they were required to restrict SRH to the score of 65, which they could not. As a result of which, they were knocked out of the tournament in spite of defeating SRH with a margin of 42 runs.

There were several takeaways from the game though. Kishan’s 32 balls 84 being one of them. The 23-year-old, who generally bats in the middle order, opened the batting for his team yesterday. Coming off from a rough patch in the tournament Kishan played a very handsome knock to provide a sparkling start to his team. In the process of doing so, he also scored the fastest fifty of the season, in 16 balls. Talking about his comeback from bad form, Kishan said in his post-match interview on Star Sports Network, “I had a good chat with Virat bhai, Jasprit bhai also helped me… everyone supported me and said it’s a learning stage for you.”
India will start their World Cup campaign on the 24th of October. They take on Pakistan in their first group match.
