Justin Langer has been appointed as the new head coach of the Lucknow Super Giants, replacing Andy Flower.
The franchise expressed their gratitude to Flower as his two-year contract came to an end. Gautam Gambhir will continue as the team’s mentor, alongside other support staff members. Gambhir had recommended Langer to franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka, who was impressed with the Australian coach after interactions with him.
Langer has a successful track record, having led the Perth Scorchers to three Big Bash League titles and coached the Australian national team.
He expressed his excitement about joining the Lucknow Super Giants and being a part of their journey. Under Flower’s guidance, the team reached the playoffs in both seasons of the IPL. Flower is reportedly in talks with another IPL franchise.
