
Punjab Kings becomes successful in buying the U-19 World Cup star, Raj Angad Bawa for Rs 2 crore at the IPL Auction 2022.
Bawa’s base price was set at Rs 20 lakhs. Hyderabad starts the bid at Rs 20 lakhs, joining Punjab at Rs 25 lakhs. Their bid reaches the mark of Rs 40 lakhs until Mumbai joins the bid at Rs 45 lakhs. Hyderabad still continues the bid at Rs 50 lakhs and also reaches the mark of Rs 1 crore soon. Mumbai comes again to bid at Rs 1.5 crores.
Punjab rejoins and raises the bid at Rs 1.6 crores. It became a tough tussle between Mumbai and Punjab in order to get Bawa. The bidding war went on till Rs 2 crores put by Punjab when Mumbai says no, letting Punjab have the youngster into their team.
Bawa is an all-rounder who comes from a great sports legacy. His grandfather, Tarlochan Singh Bawa was a key player of the 1948 Olympic gold-winning Indian team. A hard-hitting batter and an incredible right-arm medium-pacer had an outstanding journey in the U-19 World Cup 2022, taking nine wickets and scoring 252 runs in six outings.
