IPL Auction 2021: Chris Morris becomes the most expensive player in IPL history, goes to RR for Rs 16.25 Crore

South Africa’s Chris Morris becomes the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League as he was auctioned to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 16.25 Crore in IPL 2021 Auction.

“We got Morris as his numbers in IPL are very good,” said Kumar Sangakkara, director of cricket, Rajasthan Royals while talking about RR’s auction buys.

Previously, the record was held by Yuvraj Singh who was bought by Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2015 auction for Rs 16 Crore.

Aussie all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who was released by Punjab Kings after his poor performance in IPL 2020 was sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 14.25 Crore in the 2021 auctions.

Currently, third on the list of the most expensive buys is Pat Cummins who was sold for Rs 15.5 Crore in the IPL 2020 auction by Kolkata Knight Riders.

Behind the Aussie, fast bowler is England’s all-rounder Ben Stokes, who was bought for Rs. 14.5 Crore in 2017 by Rising Pune Supergiants.
