Arshdeep Singh finally got his first wicket of the season, but it came after another tough outing with the ball as Sunrisers Hyderabad continued to dominate.
Punjab Kings had a difficult start in the powerplay, with Abhishek Sharma attacking Arshdeep and the rest of the bowling unit. Arshdeep conceded heavily early on, including a big over where Abhishek took him on. His lengths were inconsistent, and SRH took full advantage to keep the scoring rate high.
Arshdeep breaks drought after tough spell
Despite the early damage, Arshdeep returned later in the innings and managed to make an impact. In the 14th over, he dismissed Ishan Kishan to finally open his wicket tally this season after three matches.
Kishan looked set on 27 off 17 balls and tried to flick a full delivery towards the leg side. The shot seemed well-timed, but it found Marco Jansen in the deep.
Jansen’s catch turns moment around
Jansen produced a sharp effort at deep midwicket, moving quickly to his right and completing a one-handed catch just inside the boundary. The dismissal gave Punjab a brief moment of relief in an otherwise one-sided phase.
Arshdeep finished with figures of 1 for 42 in his three overs at that stage. While the wicket ended his wait, the overall spell reflected the pressure SRH had applied throughout.
Punjab Kings now need quick wickets to regain control, as Hyderabad remain well ahead after a strong start.
