Rahul answers strike-rate talk with commanding hundred

There has been constant chatter around KL Rahul and his strike rate. He answered it the only way that matters — with runs and intent. Rahul brought up a 48-ball 103, hitting 12 fours and 5 sixes, striking at over 200 and setting the tone from the outset. KL Rahul registers the fastest century for Delhi Capitals in IPL history

He was not flawless. Dropped early and given another life later, Rahul made Punjab Kings pay. He attacked length, used the crease well, and kept the scoreboard moving without a lull. By the 15th over, Delhi Capitals were 189 for 1, with Rahul still dictating terms.

Virat Kohli leads the IPL century chart with 8 hundreds, followed by Jos Buttler (7), Chris Gayle (6), while Sanju Samson and KL Rahul are tied on 5 each.

Rana keeps pace as partnership breaks the game open

If Rahul led, Nitish Rana matched him shot for shot. His 72 off 36 balls, with 10 fours and 2 sixes, came at a strike rate of 200. The pair added 161 runs in 74 balls, a stand that effectively shut Punjab out of the contest.

The defining moment came in the 12th over. Rana took apart Xavier Bartlett for 28 runs — 6, 4, 4, 4, 4, 6. It was not just clean hitting; it exposed a bowling unit running out of ideas.

Punjab’s problems were not limited to the ball. There were dropped catches and repeated misfields. Shashank Singh put down Rahul early. Later, Yuzvendra Chahal were involved in lapses that allowed boundaries.

Delhi pile on, Punjab lose grip

Delhi Capitals, after opting to bat in the afternoon heat at Arun Jaitley Stadium, showed clarity from the start. Even after losing Pathum Nissanka early, there was no slowdown.

Punjab Kings began with control but lost it quickly. Their lengths slipped, their plans were inconsistent, and their fielding did not help. Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen both went over 11 an over.

The last five overs alone produced 87 runs. Delhi are now well past a platform, they are heading towards a total in excess of 230, possibly more. Punjab, unbeaten so far, are being pushed hard for the first time this season.
