IPL 2025 SRH vs RR: Travis Head hits 105m six as SRH smash 94/1 in powerplay

Sunrisers Hyderabad came out all guns blazing in their IPL 2025 opener against Rajasthan Royals, racing to 94/1 in the powerplay, with Travis Head launching a massive 105-metre six during the early carnage at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Opening the innings with Abhishek Sharma, Head wasted no time in attacking the Royals’ bowlers. Sharma gave SRH an explosive start with 24 off just 11 balls before being dismissed by Maheesh Theekshana, caught at point by Yashasvi Jaiswal. His quick-fire knock included five boundaries and gave SRH the momentum early on.

Travis Head then took over, punishing every loose delivery. The highlight of the innings came when he smashed Jofra Archer for a 105m six over deep mid-wicket, one of the biggest hits of the season so far. Archer, Farooqi, and Theekshana bore the brunt of SRH’s aggressive intent as the batters capitalised on a batting-friendly surface.

By the end of the powerplay, Head was unbeaten on 46 off 18 balls (6 fours, 3 sixes), while Ishan Kishan raced to 25 off 12 deliveries*, striking five boundaries of his own. Their unbeaten 54-run stand came in just 21 balls, taking SRH to 99/1 in 6.3 overs, with a run rate exceeding 15.

The Rajasthan Royals, having opted to bowl first, found no respite as Sunrisers Hyderabad signalled their intent with one of the most dominant powerplay performances of the season so far.
