Rajasthan Royals’ teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi scripted history on Sunday as he became the youngest player ever to score a half-century in the Indian Premier League. The 14-year-old achieved the feat during a dazzling innings against Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
After hammering 28 runs off Ishant Sharma in the fourth over, Suryavanshi continued his assault in the very next over bowled by Washington Sundar. The fifth over started with Yashasvi Jaiswal smashing a four off a short ball. Then Suryavanshi took center stage, pummeling Sundar for two monstrous sixes — one pulled powerfully over deep square leg and the other lofted effortlessly while getting down on one knee. He capped the over with a crisp boundary over deep extra cover.
In total, 21 runs came off Washington Sundar’s over, helping Rajasthan Royals race to 81/0 after five overs. Vaibhav Suryavanshi reached his maiden IPL fifty in just 17 balls, maintaining an astonishing strike rate of 300.00. His knock included three fours and six sixes, showcasing fearlessness and clean ball-striking far beyond his years.
At the other end, Yashasvi Jaiswal played the perfect supporting role, contributing 26 runs off 13 balls at a strike rate of 200.00.
Suryavanshi’s explosive innings has not only captured the imagination of fans across the world but also set a new benchmark for youngest achievers in IPL history, making him one of the biggest stories of IPL 2025.
