IPL 2025, LSG vs CSK: ‘Dhoni review system’ strikes again as Pooran falls LBW after umpire’s call is overturned

The ‘Dhoni review system’ made a dramatic return in the 30th match of IPL 2025 between Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings, as MS Dhoni once again proved his DRS mastery.

In the 4th over, Anshul Kamboj appealed for an LBW against Nicholas Pooran, but the on-field umpire wasn’t convinced and signaled not out. Dhoni, however, wasn’t letting it go that easily. After a quick chat with the bowler, Dhoni confidently went for the review — and as it turned out, he was spot on once again.

Hawkeye revealed three reds — impact in line, no bat involved, and the ball crashing into leg stump. Pooran, who had started to look dangerous with two boundaries in his 8-ball 9-run stay, had to walk back as the decision was overturned.

The dismissal was a big breakthrough for CSK and a perfect example of Dhoni’s instincts and game awareness at work once again.

At the end of 6 overs, Lucknow Super Giants are 42/2. Here’s how the scoreboard stands:

Lucknow Super Giants: 42/2 (6 overs)
