The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a schedule change for Match No. 19 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Originally set to take place on April 6 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, the match has now been rescheduled to April 8, 2025, at 3:30 PM.
Reason for the rescheduling
The decision was made following a request from Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), citing the need for increased personnel deployment due to Ram Navami celebrations. With security arrangements prioritized for the festival, authorities suggested moving the game to a later date, and the BCCI has accommodated the request.
Adjustments in the IPL schedule
The change means that April 6 will now feature only one game, with Sunrisers Hyderabad facing Gujarat Titans at 7:30 PM as originally planned. Meanwhile, April 8 will become a double-header day, with the rescheduled KKR vs. LSG match taking place in the afternoon, followed by Punjab Kings vs. Chennai Super Kings in New Chandigarh in the evening.
No further changes to IPL 2025 schedule
BCCI has confirmed that apart from this alteration, the rest of the IPL 2025 schedule remains unaffected. Fans in Kolkata will now witness the KKR vs. LSG clash on a weekday afternoon instead of the previously planned Sunday fixture.
