IPL 2025: IPL Captain’s meet likely to be scheduled for 20 March – Know more

With the IPL 2025 season just days away, all 10 team captains are set to assemble at the BCCI office in Mumbai on March 20 for the traditional pre-season captains’ meet, according to Cricbuzz. The event will likely include a photoshoot with the prestigious IPL trophy, marking the official countdown to the tournament’s opening clash. More details regarding the meet are still awaited. 

New leadership dynamics in IPL 2025

This season brings several leadership changes with Rishabh Pant joining Lucknow SuperGiants as their skipper. Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history as he was bought by LSG for a whopping price of 27 Crore while Shreyas Iyer will captain the Punjab side. Delhi Capitals appointed Axar Patel as their new captain ahead of the 18th season of IPL. Another fresh face as a skipper will be Rajat Patidar who will lead Royal Challengers Bangalore. Defending champions KKR has appointed Ajinkya Rahane to take up the captaincy roles. 

Hardik Pandya will continue to lead Mumbai, however, he will not play the first match against CSK due to a one-match ban. Rest others captains will continue to lead their respective sides including Ruturaj Gaikwad for Chennai Super Kings, Sanju Samson for Rajasthan Royals, Shubman Gill for Gujarat Titans, and Pat Cummins for Sunrisers Hyderabad.  

Countdown to IPL 2025 opener

The 2025 IPL season kicks off on March 22 with a high-voltage clash between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Eden Gardens. The captains’ meet will serve as a curtain-raiser for the tournament, giving fans the first glimpse of the new leaders and their strategies for the upcoming season.
