Mumbai Indians got off to a brisk start against Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2025 encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, but the momentum took a slight hit with the dismissal of skipper Rohit Sharma. After electing to bowl first, DC managed to break the opening partnership at the end of the 5th over.

Rohit, who looked in fine touch, scored 18 off 12 deliveries, hitting 2 boundaries and a six before falling LBW to leg-spinner Vipraj Nigam while attempting a sweep. A review was taken, but the decision stood. This was Rohit’s highest score of the season so far, signaling positive intent at the top.

Ryan Rickelton remains unbeaten on 28 off 18 balls, having provided strong support in the 45-run opening stand. Vipraj Nigam, introduced in the 5th over, made an immediate impact with figures of 1-0-2-1.

At the end of 5 overs, MI stand at 47/1 with a run rate of 9.40. Despite the loss of Rohit, Mumbai will look to maintain the scoring rate with plenty of firepower still to come.
