Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have made a strategic move ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) by bringing in Lance Klusener as their assistant coach. Klusener will join the esteemed backroom staff led by head coach Justin Langer.
Klusener, a former South Africa allrounder, brings a wealth of coaching experience to the table, having previously served as the head coach of LSG’s SA20 side, Durban Super Giants. Under his guidance, the team reached the final in the recently concluded season.
This is not Klusener’s first foray into IPL coaching, as he has previously been part of the coaching setup at Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. Furthermore, he has also led Guyana Amazon Warriors to victory in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in 2023, marking their maiden title triumph. His coaching repertoire extends to the Bangladesh Premier League, where he coached Rajshahi Kings, as well as the Tamil Nadu Premier League’s Lyca Kovai Kings.
On the international stage, Klusener has held coaching positions with Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and his native South Africa, showcasing his versatility and adaptability in different cricketing environments.
LSG’s decision to enlist Klusener underscores their commitment to assembling a formidable coaching team for the upcoming IPL season, aiming to leverage his expertise to enhance the team’s performance on the field.
