During the 1000th match of the IPL, Rajasthan Royals’ young opener Jaiswal played a significant role in their batting. He completed his century in the 18th over of the innings by hitting a boundary on the penultimate ball of Riley Meredith’s over.
It was Jaiswal’s first-ever century in the IPL and he became the fourth-youngest batter to achieve the feat in the tournament’s history.
Jaiswal’s score of 124 off 62 balls was also the highest individual score by an uncapped Indian batter in the IPL.
Additionally, he became the second batter after Brendon McCullum to register the highest score in an IPL match where no other teammate scored more than 20 runs.
Jaiswal’s performance helped Rajasthan Royals achieve their highest total against Mumbai Indians in the IPL, and he also became the leading run-getter in IPL 2023, with 428 runs in 9 matches.
