
Mumbai Indians (MI) have taken over Punjab Kings (PBKS) to claim the sixth spot on the IPL 2023 Points Table with their recent six-wicket victory in Mohali. They successfully chased the highest total of the season with seven balls remaining and now have 10 points from nine matches. PBKS, under the leadership of Shikhar Dhawan, also have 10 points, but from 10 matches. MI has a net run-rate of -0.373, whereas PBKS’s NRR is -0.472.
The first washout of the season in Lucknow has allowed Gujarat Titans (GT) to maintain their top position with 12 points, while Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings have 11 points each from 10 matches, occupying second and third place, respectively.
Faf du Plessis, the skipper of RCB, maintained his position as the highest run-scorer in the IPL with a score of 44 on Monday, keeping him at the top of the Orange Cap standings with 466 runs from nine matches. Yashasvi Jaiswal from RR is second on the list with 428 runs, while Devon Conway, the CSK opener, is third with 414 runs after his unbeaten 92 against PBKS.
On Tuesday, Mohammed Shami from Gujarat Titans took figures of 4/11 against Delhi Capitals, which allowed him to claim the Purple Cap for most wickets taken in the tournament with 17 scalps from nine matches. Tushar Deshpande from CSK is currently in second place with 17 wickets as well, while Arshdeep Singh from PBKS is third with 16 wickets after taking one against MI.
