The adage “Catches win you matches!” is true. This statement is accurate for every cricket match. There is no question that making catches helps the squad win games. We have seen a number of incredible saves, even in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Some of these catches are among the best ever made because they are the pinnacle of a fielder’s athleticism, ability, and judgement. We have seen some incredible catches in the IPL over the years that have left our minds spinning.

1. AB De Villiers in 2018
Our list of the greatest IPL catches of all time is headed by the legendary former South African batter’s superhuman effort to dismiss Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) player Alex Hales in IPL 2018. At midwicket, he performed an utter miracle with just one hand. This capture was quite amazing and was very difficult to accept. Virat Kohli, the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) squad, was shocked and rushed across the field to embrace his teammate.

2. Chris Lynn in 2014
Australians have a special quality that makes them capable of making some incredible saves. In the 2014 IPL, Chris Lynn made one of these incredible catches at the boundary line. Lynn, a player for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), took the catch while keeping his balance to avoid touching the boundary rope. He nearly lost his balance due to his arched back, but he managed to keep it under control and make a fantastic grab.

3. Suresh Raina in 2016
Suresh Raina, one of the finest fielders in Indian cricket, made history in the 2016 IPL with a jaw-dropping catch at the slips. In order to dismiss KKR’s Surya Kumar Yadav with a one-handed blinder, Raina soared into the air. Notably, the southpaw made the grab with his right hand—not his batting hand—which is noteworthy.

4. Kieron Pollard in 2014
Kieron Pollard, the legendary all-rounder for the old Mumbai Indians (MI), was a very fit fielder. In 2014, Pollard made a spectacular grab at long-on while playing against the Rajasthan Royals (RR). Before crossing the fence to the other side, he attempted to make a one-handed grab. Prior to losing his balance and falling over the fence, Pollard made careful to kick the ball into the air. He eventually dove forward to grab the ball. One of the best IPL catches of all-time!

5. Evin Lewis in 2022
Evin Lewis, a player for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), made an incredible one-handed grab as he ran towards the ball to dismiss the potentially dangerous Rinku Singh. This grab, which won the IPL 2022 season’s best catch award, says a lot about Lewis’s incredible effort.
