Punjab Kings skipper, Shikhar Dhawan made his return to the team after being out due to injury for the last three games. However, his comeback did not go as planned as he failed to make an impact in the match against the Lucknow Super Giants. In fact, Dhawan was dismissed for just 1 run off 2 balls, putting the team under immense pressure in their chase of 258 runs.
The left-handed opener received a short and wide delivery from Marcus Stoinis and attempted to slap it towards the off-side boundary. Unfortunately for Dhawan, he found the only fielder on the boundary, Krunal Pandya, who took a comfortable catch. Dhawan walked back to the pavilion with a wry smile, knowing that he had let his team down at a crucial moment in the match.
Now, the onus is on inexperienced batsmen Prabhsimran and Atharva to step up and take charge of the innings. Meanwhile, Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran are waiting to come out and make their impactful contribution to the team’s chase. Punjab Kings will have to put in a collective effort and perform at their very best if they hope to overcome this daunting task.
